Turks and Caicos

Hello friends!

We had the most AMAZING time in Turks and Caicos. I have been getting lots of questions about our trip so I thought, why not round up a blog post answering all the common questions! It was Kayden’s first time traveling EVER and his first time on the beach! Turks and Caicos islands had been on our bucket list of places to travel for as long as I can remember, and what a memorable trip it was. Honestly, experiencing the beauty of the island with Kayden was a whole new joy in itself. It is definitely tough traveling with a one year old especially during a pandemic, but we made sure to take extra precaution and wanted to choose a destination that would be safe for all of us, and Turks and Caicos was it!

From the descent in the plane to the island, to driving to our hotel, I have never seen crystal clear turquoise water and white powdery sand beaches as magnificent as Turks before. It was postcard-esque, and pictures didn’t do the scenery any justice!
We stayed at The Shore Club Turks and Caicos, and I highly recommend this resort as it had everything we could want and more. I have travelled a lot in my day and been to multiple countries, yet the service we received here stood out. The staff was so polite and eager to assist, and beyond accommodating to ensure that Kayden was particularly comfortable throughout the entire stay. The Shore Club is a 5 star resort and I can see why. It has four pools: one near the gym, one main swimming pool (pictured below) surrounded by beautiful cabanas and chairs, one pool with a swim up bar, and one adults only pool. We stayed in the one bedroom ocean front + study room and it was the perfect size. Very spacious and the extra space with a toddler is great. We had a full kitchen, dining table, two bath, a king bed, and they even brought Kayden a crib to sleep in. When Kayden would be sleeping, we would spend time in the study to relax so it wouldn’t wake him. Our view of Long Bay Beach was stunning to wake up to every morning, and Kayden really enjoyed watching the Kite Surfers and boats passing by.

Since we were traveling with Kayden we did not participate in any excursions, however, the resort offers a variety of excursions that I would definitely look into if I were traveling with just adults or older children. These excursions range from snorkeling, to kite surfing, parasailing, boat tours, sea kayaks, paddle boarding, and more. Here is a link to the water sports and amenities they offer. Did I mention that most of the excursions are complimentary for guests?!

We spent the majority of our time hanging out poolside and soaking up the hot sun and enjoying the delicious food and drinks from the restaurants at The Shore Club. It was Kayden’s first time swimming, also, and he LOVED it! I was able to sneak in a massage at the Spa at The Shore Club, and it was incredible. Immediately after the massage, I scheduled one for Malick because it was so amazing. Relaxing, calming, in the most serene setting, and the perfect way to unwind. One of our favorite restaurants was SUI REN, an asian fusion inspired cuisine that truly satisfied my sushi craving, and I would also recommend the salmon and brisket. They even accommodated special dishes for Kayden given his allergy, and he was a big fan of the fried rice. We would have breakfast every morning at the Almondtree restaurant. It was buffet style, however they also served a variety of foods off the menu. Every morning we would have fresh omelets, fresh fruit, and delicious bakery treats and coffee.
As you may know Kayden has some food allergies and the staff was so accommodating to his allergies and they would bring him eggless pancakes and fresh oatmeal with berries every morning. As a mother with a child with allergies I always worry, and in this case I can attest to the fact that I felt less anxious and very comfortable knowing that they were aware of his allergies at every restaurant we went to. We also had dinner at The Almondtree restaurant one night and got to enjoy one of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had along with some live music that Kayden really enjoyed! At the main swimming pool there is a rope bar, which gets it’s name from the unique decor, and we had many meals and refreshing drinks here as well! One evening we had a south asian meal where we had chicken tikka masala and samosas. If you are staying here, you NEED to have their molten chocolate cake. I still dream of this cake to this day and wish I could have it one last time, haha. It is a dessert you NEED to try!

While there, I had the pleasure of visiting the sister property, The Palms, and it is so gorgeous! Highly recommend this property as well, especially if you are planning on spending a lot of time on the beach, as it has direct access to Grace Bay Beach! Grace Bay Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen! This property has one large wrap-around pool that is very spacious, and the nice thing about the properties is that there is a shuttle offered that can take you back and forth.

On our last day we fit in a family photoshoot on the beach and it was a great way to end the trip, because we have these photos to cherish. Highly recommend fitting in a photoshoot whether you’re traveling solo, or with family/friends. I just love having some memories to keep and look back at. Not to mention they make great keepsakes to frame!

Well that’s a wrap on our trip! Thanks for reading and let me know if there is anything more you want to know about Turks and Caicos!
Xoxo,
